Section 137
Section 137 of the Local Government Act 1972 allows community councils in Wales to spend money for purposes where they have no other specific statutory powers, provided the expenditure is considered beneficial to the area and its residents. The council can spend up to a prescribed sum per head of the relevant population.
For the 2025-26 financial year, the appropriate sum under Section 137(4)(a) of the Local Government Act 1972 for Community and Town Councils in Wales is £11.10 per elector.
The Community Council is currently working towards eligibility for the additional powers granted under the General Power of Competence (GPoC).
